Shayna is an east-coaster and a proud New Jersey-native. Thanks to the close proximity of her childhood home to New York City, she attended countless Broadway shows with her family (including many that were inappropriate for her age to see). She fell in love with theater and spent her wee days acting out storybooks, singing into a Fisher-Price boom box with her sister, and watching old movie musicals on VHS.

Shayna received her BA from Hamilton College and trained further at Atlantic Acting Studio and Drama Centre London during those four years. Last year, Shayna relocated to Ohio for a nine-month contract with the Tony-award-winning Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park as a member of their young acting company. She gained invaluable career knowledge and practice, and her talent was acknowledged when the artistic director cast her as Mary Bennet in the Playhouse's best-selling mainstage show to date, Pride & Prejudice. Shayna has grand plans to perform and spend time in as many other states as possible, but is currently proud to call New York City home.

Shayna counts yoga, drawing, writing, and running among her hobbies. She has passions for childhood development, psychology, and wellness. When she isn't auditioning and performing, she does paralegal & personal assistant work at a law firm, and occasionally sits on babies. She has recently started a blog devoted to healthy and mindful living called The Unstarving Artist-- check it out here.

One final note: Shayna was first drawn to performing because the actors she saw on stage mesmerized her with their ability to move audience members. But she has continued on in this career path first and foremost because of the extent to which she treasures human connection. Shayna hopes to inspire her fellow humans, whether audience members or scene partners, whether in life or on stage, to practice bravery in relationships whenever possible.
